DESCRIPTION: New 344k sf classroom building for the School of Management designed by Foster + Partners, inclusive of classrooms contained within sixteen double-height blue drums, arranged around a central courtyard, a 350-seat auditorium with satellite news feeds, full-service Kitchen, Caterer’s Kitchen, Chef’s Table seating, coffee shop, media library, a large common room, faculty and staff offices, and underground parking. The building meets the LEED Gold standards of environmental performance, with chilled beams, displacement ventilation and solar responsive shading. A number of significant works of art were also commissioned including murals by Sol LeWitt, and a site-specific installation in the five-story Atrium by the Swiss artist Adrian Schiess, whose 90 painted panels appear to change color as the viewer moves around them.
